Advancing mountain biking in Luzerne County, PA. Anthracite Mountain Pedalers’ mission is to create mountain biking opportunities through cooperation and service. In addition to supporting trail systems in our region, we will host charitable events and rider education programs to expand and enrich our biking community.
Conversations about starting a club were first raised in late 2012. An initial board of trustees was then created to guide the formation of the nonprofit group. After exploring the options, Anthracite Mountain Pedalers is in the final stages of becoming a chapter of the International Mountain Bike Association (www.imba.com).
The current board members are: Lisa Zaverack (President), Lorne Possinger (Vice-President), Mark Fenner (Treasurer), Chris Murphy (Secretary), Chris Stine, and Trevor Coleman.
Building the organization. The current board only represents a small range of our community. We are looking to establish relationships with land managers, other cycling organizations, bike shops, and other organizations with similar goals. We want broad representation to build a strong mountain biking community in our region.
